Rows of Audi R8s get ready to leave the pit area to take on the world-class Infineon racetrack. All drivers were in constant radio contact with a professional racecar driver who led the group around the racetrack.
Fast? The R8 is Undoubtedly Fast. Sixty miles per hour comes up in 4.4 seconds, a quoted top speed of 187 mph arrives not much later. The R8 carries a 4.2-liter V8 in its midsection, sends 420 hp to all four wheels, offers two transmissions and wraps it all in an aluminum space frame.
The Day's Racing Program
Our clients were taken by coach from the Sonoma Mission Inn to Infineon Raceway. Upon arrival at the track, the group was divided into teams and given a short orientation class. Attendees then took turns at the wheel of the Audi R8 on the 2.5-mile racecourse. Drivers also participated in a "mirrored" course relay race (Photo below) that brought out everyone's competitive spirit. Trophies were presented at a reception held in the Audi hospitality building overlooking the racetrack at Infineon Raceway.
